STEP 2:Orientation |
There are 2 ways to complete the orientation requirement. a) Complete an online orientation at www.hartnell.edu/online-orientation-new-students b) If you need more comprehensive preparation for academic success consider registering for a Counseling 1-Student Success Seminar Course. These courses assist students in college success and are UC/CSU accepted. |
STEP 3:PLACEMENT |
Obtain course placement in Math, English, or English as a Second-Language. Make an appointment to attend a placement workshop. The Placement Workshops take place at all three campus locations (Main Campus, Alisal Campus, King City Center). Schedule your appointment at (831) 759-6054 NOTE: For recent high school graduates, we also use SAT, ACT, SBAC scores for course placement, please see a Hartnell College counselor for more information |
STEP 4:Obtain verification of disability |
Obtain verification of your disability (for example, an IEP, documentation from a professional such as a doctor, psychiatrist, etc.). |
STEP 5:Schedule an appointment with a DSP&S Counselor |
Schedule an appointment with a Hartnell DSP&S counselor to complete an intake and an education plan. |
STEP 6:Apply for Financial Aid |
Apply for Financial Aid online on the FAFSA website or complete the Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW) application and submit to the Financial Aid Office. For any questions call the Financial Aid office at (831) 755-6806. |
STEP 7:Register |
Register online using P.A.W.S. for Students |
STEP 8:Pay Fees |
Pay all registration fees by the payment deadline date to avoid being dropped from your classes. Pay on-line at PAWS for Students or at the Cashier’s Office located in Building “B”. (If you are receiving financial aid, you will still need to pay a small fee). If you owe more than $30.00, you will need to pay your fees by the deadline to prevent being dropped. |
STEP 9:Hartnell College CatCard |
Obtain your student ID card at the Student Activities Office in the Student Center. |
Very Important!
Follow up with your DSP&S Counselor EACH SEMESTER for accommodations (accommodations are NOT automatically provided – you need to come in and request them!)

CA 93901, (831) 769-8066. (You may also get a referral from DSP&S.)
Apply for EOPS, 755-6860. Inquire about deadlines and eligibility.
DSPS offers LSK90 (Memory Skills), LSK 105 (Emotional Management Skills),and LSK
126 (Learning Strategies).
