Message from Interim Dean Ana González

Dear South County Community,

Welcome to the South County Education Centers – the King City Education Center and the Soledad Education Center. It is my honor to serve as the Interim Dean and I am inspired by our south county students. This semester, I have seen an increase in enrollment for both our in-person courses as well as online courses. Your commitment towards your education and your future is inspiring and we are ready to support you on your journey.

This semester, we are excited to pilot our Distance Education Hub at the King City Education Center. Students in Math 13 with Mr. Perkins and in Political Science 1 with Mr. Barclay, are coming together to collaboratively work through the course material. This innovative space allows students to engage with one another, access tutoring, use computers and the internet, and enjoy snacks and other basic necessities. We understand that online classes can pose challenges, and the DE Hub is designed as a bridge between online learning and face-to-face support.

In addition, the King City Education Center and the Soledad Education Center provide a variety of essential services to the community. We offer assistance with the application and financial aid processes, academic counseling, tutorial services, and much more. Our student support services provide access to the Office of Basic Needs which includes supplies, food, and housing assistance. We connect with the Salinas Valley Promise Program, Teacher Pathway Program, MiCASA, TRiO, and many more programs to ensure South County students have equitable access to the services that they need.

We are here to serve you and support your educational journey in your local community. Thank you for trusting us with your educational needs.

Saludos,

Ana González
