The Cooperative Agencies Resource for Education program also known as CARE is a state-funded program designed to assist single parents who are receiving CalWORKs/TANF and are EOPS eligible.

CARE is a supplemental program of EOPS that provides additional supportive services to eligible EOPS students. Before joining the CARE program, students must first be eligible and accepted into the EOPS program.

Other Supportive Services

Other supportive services can include, financial aid grants (if funding allows), workshops and events, cap and gown voucher at graduation, UC/CSU application fee waivers, and other other free “in office” services like printing, scantrons, and school supplies!

Am I Eligible for CARE? 

CARE is a supplemental program of EOPS. In order to qualify, you must meet all EOPS eligibility requirements. EOPS/CARE student must meet the following criteria:

Be a California resident or meet the AB540 California Non-Resident Tuition Exemption.
Have a current financial aid application on file.
Qualify for the California College Promise Grant under methods A or B (Income Maximum for 2024-2025)
Registered for 9 units or more (exceptions may apply for students in DSPS).
Have completed less than 70 degree applicable units.
Be at least 18 years of age
Must have at least one child/dependent under the age of 18.
Student parent and child must be current CalWORKs or TANF Cash Aid recipients.
Be recognized as “single head-of-household” by the Department of Social Services.
