Current CalWORKs students may be eligible for part-time on-campus employment through our CalWORKs work study. Students should meet the following requirements to be considered for a CalWORKs work-study job:
- Be a current Hartnell College CalWORKs program participant
- Current recipient of CalWORKs cash aid
- Enrolled in 6 units or more
- Maintain a GPA of 2.00 or higher

Are you interested in a CalWORKs work-study job?
Follow the steps below to apply for work-study:

Download the “Student Employment Application.”
- Be sure to fully complete the application.
- If there is a section that does not apply to you, please write “N/A” to let the reviewer know you did not accidentally leave the section blank.

Submit the completed student employment application
- Bring your completed application to Marlene Hernandez, located in the CalWORKs office (B-241).

Application review and verification
- The CalWORKs office will review your submitted CalWORKs employment application and verify your eligibility.
- Eligible students will have their employment applications distributed to the hiring departments.

Hiring departments will review all submitted applications and contact selected students
for an interview.
- Interview finalists will be notified by the hiring department upon selection for employment.

Upon notification of employment and prior to beginning the position, the selected
candidate MUST see the CalWORKs office (B-241) to complete a hiring packet. Once a
hiring packet is completed, it will be turned in to human resources. The selected
candidate will coordinate their work schedule with the hiring department supervisor.
If an employment verification letter is needed, one may be requested from the CalWORKs
office.
