The Student Success and Equity Committee is a participatory governance committee that reports to the Academic Senate and oversees the implementation on campus of the statewide Basic Skill Initiative and designated budget. The Committee seeks to increase students’ course success, certificate and degree completion, and transfer to four-year institutions, as well as to increase their workplace success. To this end, the Committee’s purpose is to identify best practices and collaborate with area disciplines, student services, and other campus entities on ways of improving, maintaining, and reinforcing students’ reading, writing, ESL, and math skills. The committees’ mission also includes increasing campus awareness of and commitment to student success in basic skills.
