Data and Analytics Summit

A few members of the Data Team attended the ATD Data and Analytics Summit in College Park, Maryland. The plenary sessions addressed data storytelling, Indigenous data and research methods, and fostering racial equity with data analysis. Both the plenary sessions and the concurrent sessions sparked lively conversations among our team members. We will be planning a college-wide panel discussion forum to share what we learned at the Summit, probably in November or early December. Stay tuned for more information.

ATD Site Visit

Our coaches, Lenore and Leon, conducted their first ATD site visit on October 5 and 6. They met with a number of groups, including the Guided Pathways faculty leads, the Student Success and Equity Committee, the Strategic Enrollment Management planning team, the Deans and Directors, and various offices, including the Office of Institutional Research, Communications and Marketing, and the Office of Information Technology. One highlight was a tour of the Alisal campus, where Leon got to see a demonstration of the cyber-physical system used to simulate a Taylor Farms salad packaging line. (Click the embedded link to see for yourself!) Lenore and Leon were both impressed by the amount of "heart" we have at Hartnell College.

Teaching and Learning Summit

ATD is hosting a virtual Teaching and Learning Summit on October 26 and 27. This event is open to everyone and is designed primarily for faculty, academic deans, and Chief Instructional Officers.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Gayle Pitman, Associate Vice President of Institutional Equity, Effectiveness, and Success, by email at gpitman@hartnell.edu no later than Friday, October 13. We can support up to 20 attendees at this event.

What's Next?

Within the next couple of weeks, our coaches will submit a brief report of their observations from the site visit, which we can then use as we engage in action planning. They will conduct two more site visits this academic year, and they will engage in monthly coaching meetings with our Core and Data Teams.
