SALINAS, CA – Hartnell College is pleased to announce the commencement of significant renovations to its track and field facilities, marking the end of Phase III of the Measure T renovation projects. The project, set to begin on February 12, 2024, will temporarily close the track and field for approximately six months.

While recognizing the temporary inconvenience this may cause to regular users of the track and field, Hartnell College is committed to ensuring that the community continues to have access to safe exercise options. During the renovation period, community members are encouraged to utilize the well-lit and secure sidewalks surrounding the college campus for their exercise and walking routines.

The renovation project will bring a host of much-anticipated improvements to the track and field area. Key enhancements include the introduction of new NCAA football and soccer markings on the turf field, the installation of goal posts, the addition of sand jump pits and runway take-off boards, and the erection of new fencing. These upgrades are designed to significantly enhance the athletic experience for Hartnell College track and field athletes and provide a state-of-the-art practice facility for the college’s football team.

This project is a part of the ongoing improvements funded by Measure T, a $167 million bond measure passed in 2016. Measure T has been instrumental in facilitating a range of enhancements across Hartnell College's campuses. Notable projects include the construction of a new nursing and allied health center at the main campus, the development of learning centers in Castroville and Soledad, as well as the enhancement of facilities and services in Salinas and the King City Education Center.

Hartnell College remains dedicated to its mission of providing high-quality educational facilities and resources to its students and the wider community. The renovation of the track and field is a testament to this commitment, promising to deliver a modern, well-equipped athletic facility for both current and future generations of students and community members.
