Construction Management and Architecture (CMA) program of study at Hartnell College offers courses covering:

  • Fundamental introductory construction field craft tool skills, OSHA safety requirements, building methods, and general industry practices associated with residential wood-frame construction, commercial light-gauge steel framing, concrete, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and heavy construction trades;
  • Principles of sustainable design and construction;
  • Principles of Construction Management and Advanced Technology Tools for project planning, organization, and control practices including estimating, construction contract law, project scheduling, and project accounting;
  • Construction plan and specification reading and interpretation;
  • Application of computer graphics to preparation of architectural drawings and 3-dimensional building information modeling.

​Programs of study can be tailored to the educational objectives for each student for:

  • Immediate entry level construction employment;
  • Upgrading of career credentials for persons with prior experience in the construction industry;
  • Preparation for transfer to a CSU baccalaureate degree program in Construction Management or Architecture;
  • Completion of a professional Associate of Science degree in Construction Management leading to a career or license in the construction industry;
  • Completion of an Associate of Science degree in Architecture leading to a career as an architectural drafter.
