Construction Management and Architecture (CMA) program of study at Hartnell College offers courses covering:
- Fundamental introductory construction field craft tool skills, OSHA safety requirements, building methods, and general industry practices associated with residential wood-frame construction, commercial light-gauge steel framing, concrete, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and heavy construction trades;
- Principles of sustainable design and construction;
- Principles of Construction Management and Advanced Technology Tools for project planning, organization, and control practices including estimating, construction contract law, project scheduling, and project accounting;
- Construction plan and specification reading and interpretation;
- Application of computer graphics to preparation of architectural drawings and 3-dimensional building information modeling.
Programs of study can be tailored to the educational objectives for each student for:
- Immediate entry level construction employment;
- Upgrading of career credentials for persons with prior experience in the construction industry;
- Preparation for transfer to a CSU baccalaureate degree program in Construction Management or Architecture;
- Completion of a professional Associate of Science degree in Construction Management leading to a career or license in the construction industry;
- Completion of an Associate of Science degree in Architecture leading to a career as an architectural drafter.
